Hm, somehow I forgot to upload this earlier. Silly me. o_o; Full view please. It'll look better that way. <3
I drew this picture for the sake of doing something with a background. I drew the picture by hand, scanned it in and then digitally colored it, which is something that I haven't done in a really long time. e_e;
Amazingly enough, this is one of the few pieces that turned out almost exactly the way I envisioned it. I put a ton of time into trying to color the darned thing, but I ended up hating my original lighting scheme and doing backlighting instead. That's cool though - I think it looks a lot more dynamic and tension-filled this way. Much more interesting to have Xanshaa descend into the dark than into the light, no? Anyway, there are plenty of snags with the lighting, but I still like what I came up with.
I originally attempted to color this in Painter, but as usual, I got fed up with the program after an hour or so of puttering about, and went ahead and colored it in Photoshop. Hooray for the airbrush tool - I don't know how I'd live without it.
Thank you. n_n Actually, I think I lost a lot of detail by going crazy with inversions and adjustments... that's why everything on the walls ended up looking so subtle. xD
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
